According to Daniel Fiverson, dwarf planet Eris functions in the horoscope more as a daimon than as a goddess. She makes us aware of injustice and repressed truths and forces us to transform.
‘Eris is not for the faint of heart: she calls the brave, who wish to embrace the truth in their hearts. Those who do not recoil from the chaos that follows, while restoring the connection with life.’
In Eris: Sacred Feminine Force of Evolutionary Astrology, author Daniel Fiverson offers a glimpse into the all-encompassing world of Eris. Evolutionary astrology is the starting point of this book. It contains a wealth of knowledge for both the novice and the experienced astrologer. A book that will not let go if you are interested in the evolutionary development of humanity at the soul level. The book connects mythology, historical cycles, collective transformation, working methodically with astrology to create a complete picture of Eris as an archetype.
Eris functions more like a daimon than a goddess. She acts as a force that exposes hidden unrest, without having any personal interest in doing so. In this way, she guides the evolution of humanity in her own unique way. Through the many examples from both the collective field and individual horoscopes, you, as a reader, gain a sense of the grandeur of the field in which Eris operates. From 2026 to 2030, Eris in Aries forms nine exact squares with (radix) Pluto of the United States.
These squares invite the US to confront its deepest contradictions. Particular attention is paid to the cycles Eris undergoes in conjunction with the outer planets. The evolutionary development that began more than two centuries ago is now reaching a tipping point that calls for an awareness of our collective strength. Eris is deeply intertwined with the developments of this era. Climate issues, power dynamics, global leadership, and systemic injustice: Eris offers us the opportunity to write a shared, mythical future. What, for example, will the United States do with the painful wounds touched by the squares between Eris and Pluto: what can emerge in the highest potential?
In the coming years, we are not only spectators of these processes, we are all participants. The author’s call is therefore to meet Eris within ourselves. He encourages us to become aware through self-inquiry and to act courageously by aligning our actions with the evolution that Eris demands of us. Not only for ourselves, but also for the generations that come after us.
This is the time, and it belongs to us.

A page turner! Daniel Fiverson’s ‘Eris’ is a powerful, well-written, and fascinating account of the evolutionary human experience through the symbolism of Eris. From discovery and astronomy to mythology, her place in the Greek Classics, and the astrology she represents, the significance and symbolism of this ‘fierce, truth-bearing archetype’ is revealed. We learn how, throughout history, ‘Eris has spoken through upheaval, rebellion, and revelation.’[1] Detailed historical references are suggestive of the collective experience in the current and preceding decade while offering a signpost to the next.
If, as Fiverson suggests, Eris is the ‘slow-moving awakener,’ it is time to buckle up! As significant Eris-Pluto aspects are described, one cannot help but feel the collective is currently working through an old blueprint of sorts on the way to a (hopefully) higher level of consciousness. It becomes abundantly clear that humanity is approaching a critical crossroads. One only need reflect on recent world events, and the recurrent emphasis on words such as rupture and hegemony taking root in the topical vernacular.
Eris also has relevance within the individual natal chart. In the chapter ‘Eris in our Charts: Working with Eris,’ we learn that the slow movement of this dwarf planet is reflected in her extended placement in the sign of Aries (CE 1928-2048). Characterized by Fiverson as ‘a fiery, extended journey that signifies a collective initiation,’ one immediately senses we are indeed swimming in the proverbial collective soup.[2]
The subsequent section ‘Eris through the Houses,’ reflects on the natal chart placement discussing where the ‘soul grapples with the deeper meanings of identity, authenticity, disruption, and truth.’[3] Presented from an evolutionary point of view, each description is accompanied by multiple examples offering clear understanding of Eris’s influence in the lives of well-known figures. Biographical detail and insightful delineation bring astrological Eris vividly to life.
From my perspective, Fiverson has excelled in producing a highly readable and meaningful text. Reflecting the tone and energy of our current time, the following passage speaks to the recent shift from ‘Year of the Wood Snake’ to ‘Year of the Fire Horse’ in the Chinese zodiac:
‘Like a serpent shedding its skin, society writhes in discomfort as the old falls away. This is the labor of collective evolution. Where injustice once reigned unchallenged, the guardians of truth arise. Eris calls upon us to look beyond the veil of illusion, confront the consequences of negligence and greed, and reclaim the dignity of shared responsibility.’[4]
Daniel Fiverson’s ‘Eris’ has come about at a critical juncture in the evolution of our planet. Emphasizing the importance of agency in these crucial times and the potential impact if we decline to engage, this book is topical and resonant. A ‘must read’ for any conscious human!

“This is one of the most important works of astrology published this year. I say this for a number of reasons. Daniel Fiverson is a long-time teacher and practitoner in the branch of astrology called evolutionary astrology which takes as a given the idea that astrology speaks to a mysterious continuity in a soul’s trajectory over multiple lifetimes. The author has for many years been immersed himself in the Jeffrey Wolf Green paradigm of evolutionary astrology, and now Daniel has taken the ideas and techniques of that school and run with it, by presenting a way for students of astrology to understand the relatively newly discovered body called Eris. This book grounds us in what is presently known about the astronomy of Eris, as well as in in how the mythological symbolism of the Greek goddess figure Eris is reflected in actual chart interpretation, both of natal charts and in mundane astrology, the astrology of world events. Importantly, Daniel’s work on Eris serves as a corrective to much traditional astrology which tends to prioritize male archetypes, to say the least. This book is also a fantastic read.”

Eris: Sacred Feminine Force of Evolutionary Astrology is the latest contribution to burgeoning field of astrological insights gleaned from beyond the standard natal planets. Eris is a dwarf planet situated in the Kuiper Belt recognized for its similarities to Pluto.
The author Daniel Fiverson, with a background in Tarot, Hermeticism, and the I Ching, takes a soul-centered approach to astrology and writes lyrically and persuasively of the goddess of chaos and discord in action. Due its highly elliptical orbit it spends 20% of its 557 year orbit in Aries, most recently from 1928 to 2048.
Although Eris is a force that disrupts, provokes and shatters illusions, here it is presented here as a potent force for personal evolution and for understanding global historical cycles. Both conflict and catalyst, it highlights fractures that already exist.
House positions are key for personal interpretations since it stays for so long in Aries as are aspects to natal planets. In a chart it is where we are called to disrupt, challenge and resist compliance with falsehoods, confront uncomfortable truths, face distortions and say ‘No More’.
The mythological background to Eris is extensively explored and there are a wealth of detailed chart analyses focused on the house positions of well-known creative and political celebrities.
Eris as a historical marker is highlighted with its last entry into Aries in the late 15th early 16th century which accompanied the Fall of Constantinole, Italian Renaissance and the Guttenberg printing press – a time of ‘upheaval, revelation, irreversible change.’ It returned in 1927 as the world was gearing up for a financial collapse.
Eris in square to transiting Pluto in 2020 is pinpointed with the covid outbreak.
Eris square the USA Pluto 2026 – 2030, the author suggests will continue following the Pluto Return exposing the fault lines in American’s notion of exceptionalism. Beneath the collapse lies opportunity.
Expanding one’s astrological repertoire takes time, reflection and continued study to select what is of value and how the new knowledge can be used to deepen insight. Familiarity with the old ways where grasping the range of possibilities from signs, planets and aspects is automatic, makes grappling with the nuances of new concepts an effort.
Some of Eris placings make a good deal of sense being in hard aspect to Uranus in the charts of Julian Assange, Malcolm X, Allen Ginsberg, Ariel Sharon even Marilyn Monroe. Charles Manson had Eris in his hidden unconscious 12th house. The USA Civil War started on Eris opposition Saturn square Mars. The 2015 Inauguration had Eris conjunct Uranus. The 2025 Inauguration had Eris square Mars.
Jeffrey Epstein had his Moon exactly conjunct Eric in his 3rd house. Daniel Fiverson explains Moon Eris as – themes of survival, alienation, deep instinctual responses to feelings of exclusion and betrayal. Childhood marked by emotional turmoil, a strong desire for autonomy in emotional connections. Eris is described as a rogue and outsider which would certainly fit him. But it is also associated with the feminine warrior which certainly does not.
My jury is still out on Eris since it did not crop up in charts where I thought it might. But it may be that further study will nail down its usefulness. This book is certainly a delight to read, uplifting and compelling, a ground breaker in the astrological study of a planet that was only first sighted in 2003 and named in 2005.
